Wow, what a response !
THANKS to all who came tonight to hear my talk about John Oliver in Faversham and contributed their stories about him. Many apologies to the many people who were turned away – especially those coming from Rochester !
We had underestimated the interest the talk would arouse and could only fit 50 people in that room for fire safety reasons, and we were full by 7.15 !
I have had requests to repeat the talk in 2017 and I will do so , but this time we will have admission by ticket , so no one will be turned away .
Thanks to the Faversham Creek Trust for the venue and technical help , and Maggie Scott and Rosie Ellis my two lovely assistants . We raised the wonderful sum of £340 for the Book publishing Fund through advance book sales ( @ £20 for a signed copy) and a Raffle .
Mags Loxton the well known artist and a friend of John Oliver’s kindly donated a lovely signed print of Honfleur Harbour as first prize in the raffle .
This picture with his built up shoe for his right foot , shows the challenges he faced . Through his life he demonstrated how he was differently enabled, NOT disabled !
PS. Still not found any drawings or paintings by John . We think her signed his work OJO , so keep looking!
